Shirley Ann Jorstad

Shirley Ann Jorstad, 90, of Hayfield, MN, passed away at Mayo Clinic Hospital St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN, on Tuesday, Oct. 25.

Shirley was born in St. Peter, MN, on May 2, 1932, the daughter of Oscar and Anna (Meyer) Olson. Shirley was united in marriage to James Jorstad in Dodge Center, MN, on September 21, 1952.

A voracious reader, Shirley always had several books on her nightstand. She took pride in completing newspaper crossword puzzles in no time flat, including the one in the Sunday paper. She loved spending time with family and friends and especially cherished her time in northern Minnesota at the vacation home she and Jim owned with their dear friends the Sobloms and Shodahls. Starting in the late 1970s, Shirley enjoyed winter months in Florida in the Hayfield enclave better known as Zephyrhills. She had a terrific sense of humor, was a wonderful hostess and cook, a lover of cats and a great friend to many.

Shirley is survived by her sons David Jorstad, Hayfield, MN; Paul (Brigitte Reuther) Jorstad, Plymouth, MN; grandsons Anders and Bjorn Jorstad; brother Dan Olson, Dodge Center, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Lucille Olson, Joyce Bandel and Bill Olson; and husband, James Jorstad, on December 27, 2011.

Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1 ^st Street SE in Hayfield, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the church, Rev. Kristen Anderson officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield immediately following the service. Blessed be her memory.
