Stanley “Stan” Zelinske, of rural Mantorville, loving husband of Eleanor (Olive) Zelinske and father of four sons, passed away at the age of 87 on Sunday, December 8, 2019.
Stan was born on June 27, 1932 in Dodge County, Minnesota to Charles and Elizabeth “Jenny” (Rose) Zelinske. He was the second youngest of seven children. On July 15, 1950, he married Eleanor Olive and together they began a long career farming in Milton Township. Also on this journey through life together, Stan and Eleanor were the proud parents to Gregory, Randy, Jeffrey and Timothy.
Having spent his childhood on the farm, he early on learned that farming was in his blood. In the first years after their marriage, Stan “hired out” to several local farmers and expanded his knowledge and understanding of how to come to harmony with the land. In 1955 he bought the farm that he and Eleanor have resided on to this day. He supplemented his farming income (cows, pigs and crops) by doing custom work (silo filling and combining) for his neighbors. From this experience he grew a lifetime of friendships throughout the county.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers - Robert, Gaylord, Charles (Jr.); sisters - Mavis Sharar and Veda Campbel; a son – Jeffrey; and two grandchildren – Kit and Cory.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Eleanor of rural Mantorville, MN; sons - Gregory (Diane) Zelinske of O’Fallon, IL; Randy (Barbara) Zelinske of Mantorville, MN; and Timothy (Peggy) Zelinske of Wasioja, MN. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Kathy (Heath) Hegna of Hayfield, MN, from her previous marriage to Jeff Zelinske and a brother Kay Zelinske of Mantorville, MN.
Stan was the proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
