STERLING SPENCER JOHNSON
The funeral service for Sterling Spencer Johnson will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
Sterling S. Johnson, 84, of Hayfield, MN died Sunday evening, December 21, 2008, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.
Sterling was born on February 4, 1924, in Hayfield, MN, the son of Peter and Annie (Moe) Johnson. Sterling attended Hayfield Country Schools and farmed in the Hayfield area for many years. Sterling was united in marriage to Betty Bakke on June 21, 1947, at the Trinity Lutheran Parsonage in Hayfield. He enjoyed meeting friends for coffee, dancing and telling stories.
Sterling is survived by his wife, Betty Johnson; daughter, Susan (Dale) Anderson; Daughter-in-law, Linda Johnson, all of Hayfield, MN; five grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Caron; Kari (Mark) Vandal; Mark, Gina, and David Johnson; four great grandchildren, Drew and Jake Vandal; Katelynn and Reed Caron; and one nephew, Robert (Barb) Lewis, Talmoon, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Lois Lewis; his son, Allan Johnson; and his grandson, Michael Johnson.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2008, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield an one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
