Violet L. Buck, 82, of Rochester, died Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Olmsted Medical Center Hospital.

Violet LaVonne Mahnke was born January 2, 1929 in Dodge Center, MN to Louis and Clara Mahnke. She married Sterling Buck on September 7, 1946 in Dodge Center. She worked at Fieldcrest Care Center for 4 ½ years in Hayfield. She then worked for the Kahler Corporation in Rochester until she retired in 1990. In 1975, she and her husband moved to Rochester. Violet enjoyed playing Bingo, attending Stock Car Races, embroidering, playing cards, and spending time with family. Violet was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield and the Eagles Auxiliary.

Violet is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Leon) Eckhart of Rochester and Betty (Rick) Wood of San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Ray Mahnke of Phoenix, Arizona; and one sister, Laura Rice of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sterling in 1996; two sons, Gary and Richard Buck; one daughter, Mary Brown; three brothers; and three sisters.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st St SE, Hayfield with the Reverend Paul Hauschild and Reverend Jean Boese officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
