VIRGIL DUANE EVJEN
The funeral service for Virgil Duane Evjen will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 First Street SE in Hayfield with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery with military honors by the Hayfield American Legion Rothie Post #330. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
Virgil Duane Evjen, 78, passed away on November 29, 2015, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.
Virgil was born on August 16, 1937, the son of Howard and Opal (Hyland) Evjen in rural Hayfield, MN. Virgil served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1961. He was a member of the Hayfield American Legion, Rothie #330 and was a former Commander for two years. He was united in marriage to Donna Haskett in Bell, California on December 1, 1967. Virgil worked in California, Edina, MN as a laborer and was a welder for Mississippi Welding in Rochester, MN. He enjoyed attending and watching sports on TV.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Donna Evjen, Hayfield, MN; children, Kimberly Evjen, Hayfield, MN; Todd Evjen, Owatonna, MN; Heather Evjen, Hayfield, MN; step daughters, Patricia Fischer, Hunting Beach, CA; and Susan Hanson, West Minister, CA; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley Catron, Eden Prairie, MN; Bonnie Baxter, Apple Valley, MN; Carol (Denny) Dore, Rochester, MN; Pam (Joe) Nolan, Plymouth, MN; two brothers, Ron (Mapuana) Evjen, Hayfield, MN; and Les (Donna) Evjen, Fairburn, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield assisted with arrangements.
