WALLACE (Wally) JAY WENDORF

The funeral service for Wally Wendorf will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 30450~570th Avenue, Waltham, MN, with Reverend Dwight DoBell officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's Lutheran Cemetery.

Wallace Jay Wendorf, 85, of Grand Junction, CO and formerly of Hayfield, MN passed away on April 23, 2014.

Wally was born on November 10, 1928, first born son of Gustav and Clara Wendorf in Austin, MN.

Wally grew up in the Austin area on the family dairy farm with brothers, Gus Jr., Bob and little sister, LaVonne.

On June 4th, 1950, Wally wed the love of his life, Patricia Perrigo. Wally and Pat were kept busy raising six children on the family farm in rural Waltham. He retired from Hormel Foods in 1982. Wally enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, watching sports and racing. He collected hats, ink pens and cookbooks. Wally was an active member of St. Michaels and enjoyed Ruth Circle with Pat.

Thru the years, Wally and Pat loved dancing to Polka bands, and taught all of the kids to enjoy dancing. Wally and Pat had lifelong friends that they enjoyed visits, playing cards, and dining out with. His greatest joy was his family. He was a great Dad and a loving, patient Grandpa and was proud to be a Great Grandpa and Great, Great Grandpa.

Wally is survived by his children, Diane Klein, Lonette Brown, and Sally (Russ) Wildeman of Grand Junction, CO; Don (Linda) of Lyle, MN; Gina (Dan) Moser, Hayfield, MN; 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Wally was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat; son, Rollie; son-in-law, Naven Ingvalson; in-laws, Delmar and Eila Perrigo; brothers, Gus Jr. and Bob Wendorf.

Visitation will be 5:00~8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW Hayfield, MN and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
