William Orville Ogilvie

William “Bill” Orville Ogilvie, age 73, a longtime resident of Rochester, MN passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at his home after a battle with Pancreatic cancer.

Bill was born on October 29, 1951, in Blue Earth, MN to James and Mavis (Christian) Ogilvie. He attended and graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1969. He married LouAnn Eckhardt on November 18, 1972, and together they had two children, Jason and Justin. He attended Mankato Vo-tech for computer programming. He worked at Mayo Clinic for 31 years in computer programming, retiring in 2017.

Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and playing softball. Bill and his wife, Annie, traveled to Laughlin, Nevada often for fun trips. He was a past president of the Mayo Clinic Horse Club. He was also a member of Habitat for Humanity. Bill was diagnosed with Polio at only 10 months old but that never slowed him down or stopped him from enjoying life. He loved time with his family and often said “Watch for deer” which was his way of saying I love you.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mavis; and two brothers, James and Darrell.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Annie Ogilvie; sons, Jason (Jacque) Ogilvie, and Justin Ogilvie; grandchildren, Hailey, Jason “JJ” and Jaron; brother, Thomas Ogilvie; and sister, Judy Ogilvie; as well as his loved dog, Lexi.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Bethel Lutheran Church in the fellowship hall, 810 3rd Ave SE in Rochester, MN. A private family burial will be in the Bethel Lutheran Church columbarium.
