WILTON “BUD” L. VRIEZE
The funeral service for Wilton "Bud" Vrieze will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at the Congregational Church, at 12 2nd Street NW in Dodge Center, MN with the Rev. Jean Boese officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 4, 2009, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home at 110 West Main Street in Dodge Center, MN and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
Wilton "Bud" L. Vrieze, age 91, of Dodge Center, MN died Friday, July 31, 2009, at his home in Dodge Center. He was born May 11, 1918, in Pleasant Grove Township, Olmsted County, the son of Mark and Edna (King) Vrieze.
Bud lived in Fillmore County until the age of 11, then moved with his family to Dodge County where he has lived ever since. He married Doris Erickson on November 18, 1937, in Osage, Iowa. Bud was a dairy farmer starting in 1939, and continued for 40 years. Bud was active in the church. He served as a Trustee on the Church Council. The couple retired and moved to Dodge Center in 1979. Some of the pleasures he enjoyed were woodworking, fishing, making harnesses for Briar horses, refinishing antique furniture, loved blue birds and was in the craft business.
Bud is survived by his wife, Doris Vrieze, Dodge Center, MN; one daughter, Donna (Robert) Dohrmann, West Concord, MN; three sons, David (Linda) Vrieze, West Concord, MN; Lawrence (Peg) Vrieze, Cottage Grove, MN; and Roger (Vivian) Vrieze, Mantorville, MN. One sister, Esther (Vern) Barry, Austin, MN; 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Howardene Rasmussen, Pat Stevenson, and Phyllis Pool; 1 daughter, Marian Olson; 1 son, Tom Vrieze, and 1 grandson, Mark Vrieze. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be of donors choice.
