Zane Patch

November 10, 2016 — December 21, 2022

Liberty Township

Zane M. Patch, age 6, of Liberty Twp, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at St. Mary's hospital (Mayo Clinic)  in Rochester, Minnesota.  There will be a funeral service on January 26, 2023, at North Cincinnati Community Church in Mason, Ohio. Pastor Chad Grindstaff will officiate.  Zane was born on November 10, 2016, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Brenden Joseph and Michaela Catherine (Van Peursem) Patch.

Zane was a happy boy known for his wide grin and crazy hair. He loved music and Christmas lights, and to play with rattles, snuggle, go swimming, and swing.  He enjoyed hiking with his family, and was blessed to visit national parks across the country including the Rocky Mountains, Mesa Verde, Acadia, and Everglades.  Zane was blessed with community and adventures through A Kid Again. Through them, he regularly visited zoos, aquariums, their Christmas party, Kings Island (he loved to ride Boo Blasters), and more.  In November 2022, Zane was blessed with a wish trip to Orlando, FL through A Special Wish of Dayton. There he saw so many Christmas lights, rode his first roller coaster, pet an alligator, and shared his toys with a baby velociraptor.  Most importantly, he got a week dedicated to having fun with his family.  Zane attended preschool at Van Gordon Elementary, then kindergarten at Wyandot Early Childhood School. He thrived at school, loving the busyness of the other kids, the music, and the stories. At school, he discovered a love for painting.  Zane attended church at Living Hope PCA whenever his health allowed. He was blessed by so many people there who valued him and saw past all his disabilities. When he was repeatedly hospitalized, this church many times blessed his family with warm meals, prayers, childcare for siblings, and other support.  Zane is now free of all disabilities in heaven.

Survivors include his parents, Brenden and Michaela; two sisters, Jayda and Anja; two brothers, Dimitri and Lars; three biological brothers, Chase, Dakota, and Jeremiah Jackson, of Hamilton, Ohio; five grandparents, Tim and Joy Patch, of Pataskala, Ohio; Linda and John Meyer, of Stewartville, Minnesota; and Mary Van Peursem, of Rochester, Minnesota; a great grandfather, Pete Van Peursem, of Orange City, Iowa; and a great grandmother, Judy Kirchner, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.  He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Michael Van Peursem, of Kasson, Minnesota; and great grandparents, John Kirchner, of Pataskala, Ohio; Phyllis Van Peursem, of Orange City, Iowa; and Henry and Garlene Mulder, of Rock Rapids, Iowa.
