LEONA EVELYN (FITZGERALD) BAUDOIN
Leona Evelyn (Fitzgerald) Baudoin, 96, of Moose Lake and formerly of Hayfield, MN passed away on October 18, 2017.
Leona was born on July 27, 1921, the daughter of Carl and Minnie (Kruger) in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from Hayfield High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Fitzgerald on October 28, 1941 and farmed until 1963. They became proprietors of Browerville Super Mart in Browerville, MN. Leona performed much of the operation of the store until she became a full-time caretaker of Lawrence in 1972, until his passing in 1974. She then worked in the grocery business in Hayfield until retirement. Leona married Walter Baudoin on September 16, 1989, in Barnum, MN until Walt's passing in August 1991.
Leona was faithful to the Catholic church, taught catechism, and volunteered for many other roles in the church over the years. She also supported the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in support of her husband, children, and grandchildren affected by this unforgiving disease. She loved to travel when she was able and took exciting trips with her family and other relatives over the years. She often shared fond memories of Hawaii and England.
Leona is survived by her children, Gary (Marianne) Fitzgerald, Mahtowa, MN; Bonita (Doug Bandli) Fitzgerald, Mahtowa, MN; Bruce (Julie) Fitzgerald, Fort Collins, CO; Brian (Paula Johnson) Fitzgerald, Shakopee, MN; Kelly (Jodi) Fitzgerald, Sargeant, MN; along with over 22 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren across the country. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Curtis (Dorothy) Jacobson; sister, Viola (Clayton) Martin; sons, Richard (Janet), Tom (Doris), husbands, Lawrence and Walter and two granddaughters.
Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 150 ~ 2nd Street NE in Hayfield.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. with Father Thomas Niehaus celebrating. Interment will be in St. Columbanus Catholic Cemetery in Blooming Prairie.
